Tenor voice with soul inspired by flamenco, accompanied by a syncopated guitar style, the American Raul Midon captivates. Capable of injecting classic soul into pop, Raul Midรณn is a complete artist whose charm equals his talent.

His torrid songs touch the heart. The lyrics give color to his feelings and experience: anger, hope, compassion, love for others, and self-esteem. “I feel the need to share the emotions that run through me,” explains the singer-songwriter. Each phrase falls like an ax. The impression of a granite statue. Has jazz influenced his career? “Indirectly, yes. My father was a professional dancer. He listened to Beethoven, Mozart, John Cage, and Charlie Parker. I picked records from the shelves at home at random. The influences crystallized. However, I felt a particular attraction to Miles Davis; the person adopted so many different configurations! I don’t know any more complete jazz musician. The album ‘Sketches of Spain’ overwhelms me with melodies!” Midon plays melodies by pressing his lips, producing the sound of a trumpet. The result is astonishing. Originally from New Mexico and now based in New York, this singer-songwriter and guitarist burst onto the music scene in 2005 with “State Of Mind,” a daring debut album. The following album, “A World Within A World” (Blue Note Rec. / Manhattan Records), released in 2007, is a combination of allusions to pop music and the inner world that this artist, blind from birth, has been able to imagine. Raul Midรณn is often compared to artists like Stevie Wonder, Paul Simon, or Bill Withers.

Born to an Argentine father and an African-American mother, he has been passionate about music from an early age. He started playing drums at the age of four before picking up the guitar. Subsequently, he declined a scholarship granted by the University of New Mexico in favor of the University of Miami, renowned for its jazz department. After obtaining his degree, he became a backup singer and worked with numerous artists, including Julio Iglesias and Shakira. His experience in clubs where he sang and offered a repertoire of covers and original songs allowed him to refine his skills as a vocalist and composer and to develop a guitar technique influenced by flamenco and jazz.
In 2002, Raul Midรณn began his solo career in New York. After hearing him, the legendary producer Arif Mardin, who had just produced “Come Away With Me” for Norah Jones, offered him a recording contract, marking the beginning of recognition by a wide audience.
