Can you name a 1000-seat venue in Europe capable of hosting world-class stars like Diana Ross or Céline Dion, Carlos Santana, or Eric Clapton, just to name a few? Look no further, it’s right next door: the Sporting of Monte-Carlo! A legendary venue that, for 35 years, has hosted the greatest names in music and entertainment on its stage. This will once again be the case for the 2008 edition of the “Summer Festival,” presented by Bernard Lambert, the General Manager of the Société des Bains de Mer, in the setting of his latest jewel, the Monte-Carlo Bay Hotel & Resort, inaugurated in October 2005.

A programming even more modern, selected by Jean-René Palacio, the artistic director of SBM, closer to international variety with a marked emphasis on “Pop Rock,” not forgetting soul music and more female stars—nine, no less—who will delight the privileged attendees of the Sporting. The queen of soul, Diana Ross, will open the festivities (July 4 and 5), which will be closed at the end of August (August 23) by the undisputed master of guitar and blues, Eric Clapton, as part of the “Red and White Night.” In the meantime, there are many evenings to highlight, including the only “intimate” concert of Céline Dion’s world tour, which will be sold out for both dates (July 11 and 12), and the appearance of the only two selected French artists, Christophe Maé for a charity concert for Fight Aids Monaco (July 25) and Jean-Louis Aubert (August 4), while the Italians will be more numerous in August. “Nostalgia” sequence with the “Woodstock Legend” evening (July 30) where it is strongly advised to come in “seventies” attire, and “Prestige” with the unmissable “Red Cross Gala” (August 1).
