At the core of this new entity, Renato Tullio Ferrari and Pierluigi Fadda are two Italians settled in Nice and, although retired, the two comrades wanted to invigorate an Italian community estimated at nearly 35,000 members. After a few months of research and investigation, the Circolo Italiano took shape, and it is around a first event that this new association from Nice will be presented. “We wish to offer Italians settled in Nice and the region a friendly space that allows them to meet from time to time around an event or gathering. The Circolo is a widely extended gathering space in Italy, and we wish to offer this to the local transalpine community,” says Pier Luigi Fadda, President of the association. Through this circle, he aims to propose numerous activities such as outings, trips, Italian courses, and also compile the ideas and projects of the Italian community.
Former General Manager of the newspaper Il Giorno, Pierluigi, passionate about rugby, is at the origin of the Italian Barbarians and numerous publications in the world of transalpine rugby. He also spent ten years at the Gazzetta dello Sport and the Giornale di Brescia. Alongside him, Renato Tullio Ferrari shares the same passion, having been President of the Milan Club and a member of the Italian Rugby Federation. This former advisor to the Italian Minister of Economy was also President of the San Paolo Bank. “I strongly believe in the virtues of the association, and we will try to be a real link between local Italians. Besides this, we are also working on a web portal project that would gather our ideas and serve as a platform for our activities.”
Thus, the Circolo Italiano was born, and it was on the occasion of the last Euro 2008 qualifying match, Italy-France, that this new association was presented during a first dinner organized by the Circolo Italiano at the Portovenere restaurant. A successful first occasion for this circle that only seeks to grow over time.
Nice Premium welcomes this new association, which had the honor of accepting it as an honorary member and will regularly inform you of the various events of the Circolo Italiano.
