This national premiere, which will combine giant screen projections, the election of the best LIPDUB 2008, and the official awarding of trophies, all at the heart of a “non-stop music and video” evening, is not that surprising.
The Forum de lโEntreprise already put their LIPDUB online last May, with 2,500 views to date. One of its members even created the world’s first LIPDUB based on a movie scene, the iconic kitchen scene from “Les Tontons Flingueurs,” earning congratulations from Mr. Georges Lautner himself!
But by the way, do you know what a LIPDUB is?
For over a year, it has become the trademark of trendy companies. It’s hard to avoid them, as these gems, improbable hybrids between karaoke and commercial films, now flourish in the heart of the Internet.
It’s the New York agency Connected Ventures that invented the LIPDUB in 2007, quickly transforming it into a new form of self-promotion. Their clip was viewed by almost 2 million internet users in a few months, spreading this pleasant virus in the communication agency world, before overflowing into all activities.
France hasn’t gotten over it and is among the most hooked on the new trend. Hugo Boss was even the first brand in the world to launch a product with a LIPDUB. Since then, dozens of companies, including Rumeur Publique, Orange, Expedia, France 3, France 5, Euro-Disney, or NRJ, have posted their films online. Even MEDEF joined in last February, with Laurence Parisot and her employees not hesitating to appear covered in glitter and feather outfits!
And here is the LIPDUB, uploaded on YouTube or DailyMotion, set to radically change the company’s image with its clients, suppliers, and even its banker. Did Andy Warhol predict the future when he said, “In the future, everyone will have their 15 minutes of fame”?
The Forum de lโEntreprise is therefore inviting managers, agencies discovering this new form of communication, and all enthusiasts of this new form of expression to meet on December 12 at the Before (10 rue du Congrรจs, Nice). The aim: to form their own opinion on this phenomenon, which is likely to become a full-fledged corporate communication vector.
The event organizers even hinted that the evening would be lively and that a few surprises will ensure visitors will remember it.
