On Saturday, December 19, 2009, the official awarding of the 4-star label to the Nice Tourism Office took place by Francis Lamy, Prefect of the Alpes-Maritimes.

In the Alpes-Maritimes, 28 tourism offices are classified: 5 with one star, 9 with two stars, 10 with three stars, and 4 with four stars: Menton, Antibes, Cannes, and Nice.

The classification, lasting five years, is decided by the prefect, after advice from the departmental tourism action commission. It aims to implement a high-quality public service for the reception and information of tourists, offering consistent services throughout the entire national territory.

France has around 3000 tourist reception points. Among them, 2337 tourism offices are classified or in the process of classification, with 76 having obtained the four-star classification.
