From January 25th to February 5th. Day in Nice (Station): February 2nd
The RMC/BFM Association is organizing the “Heart Train” operation from January 25th to February 5th to raise public awareness about CPR and encourage local officials and business leaders to install cardiac defibrillators in places open to the public.
The Heart Train visits ten cities in France. The inauguration is scheduled at Paris Gare du Nord on January 25, 2011, at 1 PM, in the presence of Xavier Bertrand, Minister of Labor, Employment, and Health.
The free exhibition is open to the public every day from 10 AM to 6 PM.
The schedule of a day:
9:30 AM: inauguration of the stop by a representative of the host city in the presence of officials, local personalities from the economic sector, the community sector, the scientific community, and the press
From 10 AM: welcome for the general public and schoolchildren. Information on life-saving actions and demonstration by trainers from the French Red Cross, followed by a fun and educational exhibition.
The “Heart Train” is an educational exhibition on the functioning of the heart and cardiac arrest organized with the support of Philips, Safetic, Medef, and the French Red Cross.
The exhibition:
– Simple information to understand the functioning of the heart,
– Educational activities with scientific content on various media: animated diagrams, videos, educational and interactive panels,
– Practical demonstrations (chest compressions, use of a defibrillator) performed by rescuers from the French Red Cross.
For Isabelle Weill, president of the RMC/BFM Association, “There is no inevitability. 40,000 people die each year from cardiac arrest. Saving 4,000 lives per year is possible by installing more defibrillators in public places and training the population in life-saving techniques from a young age, at school.”
