The municipality has embarked on an ambitious plan that addresses both high-level sports and sports for all in order to make Nice a city of sporting excellence.

This ambition is embodied in the implementation of major projects (Nice Stadium, Aquatic Center project), the creation and/or renovation of local facilities, and in actions to promote and develop sports practice.

In this spirit, since 2008, significant renovation work has been carried out on facilities throughout the city’s neighborhoods: renovation of the Jean-Bouin sports complex, La Lauvette stadium, Jean Médecin swimming pool…

Renovation work has been underway since December 2010 at the Méarelli stadium to provide ideal conditions for athletes using this facility:

– Creation of a new generation synthetic field;
– Complete refurbishment of the grandstand (610 seats);
– Renovation of the basketball and handball courts;
– Creation of 14 pétanque courts on the upper part;
– Creation of a club-house for the boules court and a multi-purpose room as well as two pétanque courts on the lower part.

– The cost of the work is estimated at 1.4 million euros.
