The Ministry of Ecology announced the subsidies that the State will grant to provincial cities that responded to the 2nd call for projects launched within the Environmental Grenelle framework.
The State has granted a subsidy of 54.3 million euros for the East-West line of the Nice tramway. Nice thus receives the largest subsidy from this call for projects in the Tramway Lines category and the second largest subsidy among all cities in France, across all categories (the highest subsidy going to Rennes, which is building its second automatic metro line).
This strong support from the State for our East-West tramway line is partly due to the fact that the line will serve Nice, which is one of the 13 “Eco-cities” selected by the same Ministry of Ecology under the “Cities of Tomorrow” program.
Christian Estrosi welcomes that the State has recognized this morning and significantly supported the ambition of Nice in terms of exemplary transportation and urban development.
