The first event to mention is the sixth edition of “L’Italie à Table,” which will take place from June 3 to 6, 2010.
This fair, entirely dedicated to the excellence of Italian œno-gastronomic production, returns to the Albert 1st gardens in Nice. A 5,000m² exhibition, with more than 180 exhibitors from all over Italy, and over 100,000 visitors increasingly interested in the fine products of Italian cuisine. The quality of the products is the foundation of the event.
The displayed products are chosen for their artisanal processes, which limit the use of chemical additives and highlight the œno-gastronomic culture of the “Bel Paese”! The result is a market-exhibition dedicated to products that rarely reach the large retail distribution: an event that promotes local products and agri-food products.
Visitors can participate in gourmet tastings: charcuterie, Parmigiano, pesto pasta, wines, ice creams, and fruit sorbets. Producers present their typical specialties, as well as lesser-known dishes and wines. Truffle rice, spaghetti all’amatriciana, charcuteries, wines, and cheeses are among the most appreciated products.
Other events also promote taste, as well as Italian culture and tradition. Each year, renowned chefs from Nice offer special menus, interpreting Italian cuisine in their own style; conferences on well-being, nutrition, and educational workshops for children showcase the food situation in France and Italy, providing them with balanced tips and recipes for tasty and healthy eating.
“This is one of the largest Italian events in France,” explains Agostino Pesce, Director of the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice, “often Italy looks towards more distant markets and does not think of neighbors like France. Moreover, marketing strategies must be built step by step: the success of this event is a reward for our perseverance.”
This year, during the fair, the “Dolcevita” space will be inaugurated, entirely dedicated to the art of Italian table and cuisine. A showcase for Italian manufacturing companies in the sector, eager to promote their latest innovations in style and technology. An opportunity for the public and potential customers on the Côte d’Azur, but also a means to meet business partners from the department and expand the distribution network in France.
The second event not to be missed is the “Forum Tour Equit” in Saint-Laurent-du-Var on June 12 and 13, 2010.
Organized by the Tourist Office of the city, which has 30,000 inhabitants, and in partnership with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice, this forum will tackle topical themes: sustainable development, the arts of well-being, solidarity tourism, and fair trade. The forum’s program is accessible to everyone since the topics are understandable by all, with interventions from institutions, associations, producers, companies, professors, and sector specialists.
Finally, the last event of summer 2010 will be the first edition of “Les Maîtres du goût,” organized by the Tourist Office of Cagnes-sur-Mer in collaboration with the Italian Chamber of Commerce in Nice, and it will be held from September 24 to 26, 2010.
For the first time in this charming setting, visitors will have the opportunity to get to know and appreciate the artisans of Piedmont who, every two years, are selected by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin and Slow Food Italy to become “Maîtres du goût,” meaning artists of flavor, faithful to tradition and local products. The representatives of this label preserve and enhance the œno-gastronomic excellences of the local area, having to pass three selections to join this exclusive group: taste, evaluated by Slow Food, the “Torinesità,” judged by the Chamber of Commerce of Turin, and finally, sanitary hygiene, evaluated by the Laboratory of the Chamber of Commerce of Turin.
With this prelude, visitors will not only embark on a journey to discover the true flavors of the region but will also have the chance to connect with the producers, discovering the dedication and love that lie behind each gastronomic product.
Finally, exhibitors at these events will have the opportunity to participate in other markets and fairs organized in the Alpes-Maritimes.
