A professional triathlete for 5 years, Axel Zeebroek is an early athlete. At 4 years old, he knows how to swim, at 8 he becomes the youngest Belgian to swim 20 km in 10h32! Very comfortable in the swimming part, he became a triathlete in 1995.
Titles accumulate over the seasons and races: 13th at the World Championship in Beijing in August 2008, winner of the Monaco Ironman 70.3 in September 2009, 2nd at the Ironman Arizona in November. For 2010, he will start with the triathlon in Huy on May 9 before heading to the French Riviera for the Ironman France.
Without a doubt, Axel will be a serious rival for Marcel Zamora in the cycling part of the race. And his motivation is strong. Indeed, he aims for the top 3 to secure a qualification for the Hawaii World Championship next October.
He then hopes to win the Ironman 70.3 in Antwerp in July. To be in top shape and achieve new performances, he began his preparation in November, particularly working on his effort management while cycling.
