Tuesday, March 8 at 7 p.m., at the Théâtre de la Tour.
On this occasion, the actresses of the Nice-based company, accompanied on stage by musician Florent Chazarra, will perform an extensive excerpt from their new show, “The Rules of Etiquette in Modern Society,” a biting play by Jean-Luc Lagarce freely inspired by the etiquette manual of Baroness Staffe (published at the end of the 19th century).
Birth, baptism, marriage, wedding anniversaries, death… Life is nothing but an endless series of social conventions. Through “The Rules of Etiquette in Modern Society,” the Alcantara Company examines each key stage of our lives, offering a bittersweet perspective on the necessity of propriety.
After a trilogy of solo female performances (The Babette Show, by and with Emilie Atlan directed by Olivier Collandant, Solo para Paquita by Ernesto Caballero, with Isabelle Bondiau-Moinet directed by Emilie Pirdas, and HAYS, Confessions of a Silent Chatterbox by Isabelle Girard with Sophie Sergio), Alcantara feels the desire to reunite for a choral, unifying, and dynamic show, in the warm and sensual atmosphere of a cabaret.
