March 8, 9, and 10, 2011, Place Garibaldi in Nice
Through projections, workshops, and round tables, this event aims to make the issue of gender-related stereotypes accessible. Gender is a new concept in the humanities that describes the construction of the difference between sexes. It refers to how societies, through education and culture, construct femininity and masculinity.
For the first time in the Alpes-Maritimes department, discussions around these issues bring together: the Departmental Mission for Women’s Rights and Equality, the General Council 06, the Urban Community of Nice Cote d’Azur, the University of Nice-Sophia Antipolis, the IUFM, and the Academy Rectorate. This is an unprecedented event aimed at providing field actors with a better understanding of the social, cultural, and political uses and challenges of gender.
This collective reflection, intended to become an annual meeting, will be followed by thematic workshops to create new tools, projects, and best practices.
Gender in action: the goal is to collectively develop new professional practices that integrate the gender dimension.
Tuesday, March 8: The Dominance of Patric Jean
from the ancestral values of patriarchy: women in the kitchen and men in power? Can we imagine that educated young women seek a “dominant partner”?
Even if these tendencies may seem marginal at first glance, the film shows us that our attitudes rarely match our words. The illusion of equality hides a chasm of daily injustices that we no longer want to see. And where everyone plays a role.
Through funny, astonishing, and sometimes dramatic sequences, the film forces us to position ourselves in a place where everyone thinks they hold the truth.”
