The previous article [The city of Nice awaits its monumental sculpture named “the obelisk”](https://www.nicepremium.fr/article/la-ville-de-nice-attend-sa-scuplture-monumentale-baptisee-l-obelisque-.5758.html) received numerous comments which we will not dwell on but acknowledge accordingly, while noting that comparing a cultural choice with social policy is not really appropriate, as each has its own specific interest and utility.
And as reality shows, in Nice as elsewhere, one less sculpture never means more social housing.
However, the sculpture by Bernar Venet has now officially become one of the artistic symbols of the city of Nice, regardless of the disapproval from some.
Like many other works of art, it will have its supporters and its detractors, each with their own reasons for arguing their opinion.
As for us, we will adhere to the Latin maxim: “de gustibus non est disputandum.”
