Human presence on the coasts of Villefranche, Nice, and the Lรฉrins Archipelago has left archaeological traces since Antiquity. A maritime route created by the Phocaeans and developed by Rome, the Lรฉrins-Nice-Villefranche axis allows for the reconstruction of certain human activities through studies. Indeed, archaeological materials discovered on the seabed offer glimpses into various activities such as navigation, commerce, and military conflicts.
This conference aims to discuss the main remains unearthed during underwater archaeological operations along our coasts and to propose a comprehensive reconstruction of human activities by relating them to historical events.

-The Speakers:
โ€“ Stรฉphane Morabito: Doctor in Ancient History; historian โ€“ archaeologist, archaeological service of the city of Nice; associate researcher at the Camille Jullian Center, University of Provence; scientific director of underwater archaeological research in the Bay of Angels
โ€“ Guillaume Debaux: Environment Facilitator at CPIE Lรฉrins & Pays dโ€™Azur; head of hyperbaric archaeological survey operations in the Bay of Angels
