The Festin des Mai, a traditional festival, is organized under the initiative of Jean-Marc Giaume, delegate for Culture and Traditions.
Since time immemorial and in all civilizations, the change of season has given rise to numerous festivities that continue in many countries of Europe and French provinces, like in Nice with its traditional “Mai” festival.
For this popular and rustic celebration, families gather in the gardens of the Cimiez arenas, in the shade of the olive trees. Over a picnic, parents, children, and friends enjoy the specialties of Nice cuisine such as socca, pissaladière, pan-bagnat, swiss chard pie, etc. The culture and language of Nice are honored throughout these days with music, songs, and dances from the County of Nice, also including cross-border groups to the delight of all.
Numerous festivities will enliven Sundays on May 1st, 8th, 15th, and 22nd from 11:30 AM to 5 PM with background music of “Balèti Nissart” until 7 PM.
