Each year, a tribute is paid on Yom Ha-Shoah to the 6 million Jews who died during World War II, victims of the Nazis and their collaborators. In France, the ceremony of reading the names organized at the Mรฉmorial de la Shoah is one of the highlights of this commemoration.

In France, 76,000 Jews, including 11,400 children, were deported to the death camps. Only 2,600 of them survived. This event is held under the high patronage of Mr. Nicolas Sarkozy, President of the Republic, and under the aegis of the Foundation for the Memory of the Shoah.
Nice will pay tribute to the Jews who were victims of the Shoah this Monday, May 2, 2011, at 5 p.m. at the Chรขteau Cemetery โ Chรขteau Hill.
This ceremony will also pay tribute to the members of the population of Nice who showed solidarity during this ordeal.
