Christian Estrosi is no longer a Minister in the new government.

The mayor of Nice was not reappointed to his ministerial duties during the reshuffle of the Fillon Government. No political figure from the French Riviera is part of the new government executive. Yet, the Alpes-Maritimes was the department that voted the most for the “candidate” Sarkozy during the 2008 presidential elections, and Christian Estrosi clearly showed his closeness to the President of the Republic. Is this a mystery of political life or a disavowal for the now “former” Minister of Industry?

Christian Estrosi, replaced by Eric Besson as Minister of Industry under the authority of Bercy, expressed all his “best wishes for success” to his successor and the new government, stating that he would lead his “next battles” with the majority deputies.

“I extend my congratulations and best wishes for success to the new government of Franรงois Fillon and particularly to Eric Besson, who now has the honor of leading France’s industrial policy,” the Mayor of Nice announced in a statement.

“Throughout my public life, my sole ambition has been to serve the interests of France and the French people. It’s this ambition that will fuel my next battles, alongside the majority deputies,” he added.
