This Thursday, December 9, 2010, at 3 PM in the Hemicycle of the General Council, Eric Ciotti, Deputy and President of the General Council of the Alpes-Maritimes, and Georges ROUX, Vice-President of the General Council, Deputy Mayor of Antibes, will proceed with the presentation and installation of the 1st Plenary Assembly of the Youth General Council (CGJ).

In 2003, at the initiative of its President, and in association with the Academic Inspection, the General Council created the 1st Youth General Council. A place of expression, reflection, but above all action, the CGJ allows young people to inject a dynamic of participation in the organization of collective life, and proposes them to design projects on subjects directly affecting middle school students in the Alpes-Maritimes.
The CGJ 2010-2012: 4th term
The CGJ is composed of 52 students elected among the 8th-grade classes of the 48 middle schools of the Alpes-Maritimes. Elected for two years in a two-round uninominal ballot, each CGJ represents a canton of the department.
The CGJ: a budget of โฌ100,000 for concrete actions
Since its creation, the CGJ has been allocated a budget of โฌ100,000 for carrying out the work of two commissions: C1 “health, solidarity, and education” and C2 “environment, heritage, and safety”, each dealing with specific themes.
The CGJ: strong actions in prevention and awareness
Let us recall that previous terms have notably led to the development of prevention and awareness campaigns on the themes of child abuse, disability, and road safety, often recognized with awards. The 3rd term initiated a major operation aimed at informing young people about the risks posed by addictions (alcohol, drugs, and internet).
The originality and relevance of this campaign recently led the General Council to dress its info bus for youth health with the colors of “Kรฉfa”.
