Two prestigious museums have decided to unite their expertise, passion, and treasures through a fruitful partnership.

Established for a duration of 5 years, the agreement for collaboration and scientific and cultural exchanges between the Departmental Museum of Asian Arts and the Guimet National Museum of Asian Arts provides for:

– The reciprocal hosting of temporary exhibitions organized by one of the museums,
– The co-production of international-scale exhibitions and their possible tours,
– Scientific exchanges in terms of documentation, management, and collection expertise,
– Programming and the organization of temporary deposits and loans of artworks.

On this occasion, an exceptional piece has been loaned for deposit to the Museum of Asian Arts, the Buddha protected by the naga, originating from Siem Reap, Cambodia.

The statue will be permanently displayed on the first floor of the museum, as part of the “Buddhism Route” theme.

A partnership that extends the alliance of these two temples of art
The Guimet Museum, which houses the richest panorama of Asian arts in the West, has made available to the Museum of Asian Arts exceptional works for the Spirit of Japan exhibition, which is open to the public until March 17, 2013.

The Departmental Museum of Asian Arts, beautifully designed by Kenzô Tange, strongly contributes to the cultural influence of the department and will be able, through this partnership, to enrich its collection by offering ever more rare works to its visitors.
