The “new” CUM was inaugurated in Nice.

In the presence of Eric Ciotti, President of the General Council, and other elected officials, Christian Estrosi inaugurated the “new” C.U.M after a few months of closure for renovation. “The reopening of the C.U.M. is a symbol: making Nice a city of today and tomorrow, without losing what it was yesterday” – said the Deputy Mayor of Nice in his welcome speech to the many residents present. And to conclude: “The CUM regains its colors, those of its architecture and decoration. These colors are intense, from the Pompeian red of the facade to the ochres of the Bouchon fresco.”

inaug_cum.jpg The C.U.M indeed looks new and presents itself as both a classic architectural style building and modern in terms of operating technology.

The facade has been restored, as well as the dome frescoes and the mural have been redone, the walls and ceilings of the hemicycle repainted, the seats of the grand amphitheater upholstered in purple, and the ceiling regaining its 1930s copper chandeliers.

The lighting installations have also been revised, and on this occasion, the CUM has been equipped with equipment allowing for live streaming of conferences or events over the internet.

But it is especially the exterior, with its regained colors, the Sardinian red, that gives a shine to this jewel of the Promenade des Anglais!

While this place remains primarily dedicated to cultural activities, it will also become the seat of deliberations for the Nice-Côte d’Azur metropolis, which has just been established.
