The year 2012 is off to a flying start for the Nice volleyball players who will need to deliver the perfect match on Saturday if they want to win against their Avignon neighbors, who snatched the leader position from them during the last day of the Ligue B championship. Ranked second with only a single point behind, the Eagles will have to win at all costs if they wish not to be left behind. They can rely on Mladen Kasic, the experienced Croatian coach returning this season after leaving the club in 2007.

Put an end to the 3-2 scores!

The Nice team is the only one in the championship to have only one defeat (with 10 wins compared to 9 for Avignon). However, in volleyball, a victory doesn’t always bring 3 points. Indeed, only victories of 3 sets to 0 or 3 sets to 1 result in a full score. A 3-2 victory nets only two points! And that is the weak spot of Kasic’s players! The Eagles struggle to “seal the deal” and too often resort to a decisive last game, which means only 2 points in case of victory. This is precisely why the volleyball players lost their leader position just before the break: they only won 3-2 against Chaumont while at the same time Avignon won 3-1 against St Quentin.

A clear victory against the leader would correct the course with flying colors and would allow the Nice team to retake the lead!
