Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, President of the Urban Community Nice Côte d’Azur, Fernand Bianchi, President of the Community of Communes of the Tinée, Jean-Marie Bogini, President of the Community of Communes of the Mercantour Resorts, and Gérard Manfrédi, President of the Community of Communes of the Vésubie, were awarded the Marianne d’Or prize for the first Metropolis of France by Jean-Louis Debré, President of the Constitutional Council.
On January 1, 2012, the Metropolis Nice Côte d’Azur will unite the Urban Community of Nice Côte d’Azur and three Communities of Communes: those of the Vésubie, the Tinée, and the Mercantour Resorts.
This living area between the sea and mountains, between the Bay of Angels and the peaks of the Mercantour, will facilitate the development of large-scale territorial solidarity and enhance the national and international attractiveness of this exceptional territory.
“This prize rewards the shared commitment of the four presidents of the Intermunicipal Cooperation Public Establishments to engage in the dynamic of the law on the reform of local authorities and to unite this large common living area into the first Metropolis of France,” says Christian Estrosi.
