The European Leukodystrophy Association (ELA), sponsored by Zinรฉdine Zidane, wanted to raise the alarm to warn the local residents of an unauthorized solicitation for donations. A man in his forties is posing as an ELA representative. He has a fake ELA representative card with a photo of himself and is selling raffle tickets for 2 euros each. Residents are urged to exercise great caution.

ela-2.jpgThe European Leukodystrophy Association (ELA), sponsored by Zinรฉdine Zidane, was founded in 1992 and was recognized as a public utility by decree on November 13, 1996. It brings together parents of sick children who are mobilizing to defeat these deadly genetic brain diseases.

The man is posing as an ELA representative

A man in his forties is posing as an ELA representative, has a fake ELA representative card with a photo of himself, and is selling raffle tickets for 2 euros each. He is going door-to-door to sell these tickets. He was first spotted in Cagnes-sur-Mer and is now in Saint-Laurent-du-Var.

Aged around forty, he does not try to impose himself on individuals. Friendly and well-dressed, his speech focuses on his association affiliation. Of average height with a Mediterranean profile, he is relatively thin and courteous. A briefcase displays his so-called professional card with the ELA logo. The raffle tickets are on standard paper. Currently, the only official raffles of the ELA association take place only in schools.

ELA wished to provide information on their official operations

โ€œELA representatives do not have cards with photos; such cards do not exist. Furthermore, ELA has no representatives in the Alpes Maritimes.
You can find the list of our regional delegates and representatives on our website: https://www.ela-asso.com/?q=taxonomy/term/89

The ELA association distributes sponsorship booklets for sale, especially through door-to-door solicitation, but these are sold by elementary, middle, and high school students who participate in our campaign called “Put on your sneakers and beat the disease,” conducted in schools. Moreover, these booklets are numbered and carry the stamp of the participating school.
Raffles are sometimes held in favor of ELA, but these are organized within the framework of events announced by ELA (all information in the calendar on our website www.ela-asso.com).

This man was already active in Cagnes-sur-Mer last December, where he also posed as an ELA representative, displayed a card with his photo, and sold raffle tickets. He has started again today in Saint-Laurent-du-Var between noon and 2 PM in the Les Pugets neighborhood. Under no circumstances should you buy the raffle tickets sold by this man, as the money he collects is not donated to the ELA association.โ€
