For the 19th consecutive year, the association EDHEC Aventures, composed of around fifty EDHEC students, is organizing the Raid EDHEC, which will take place from Wednesday, May 30 to Sunday, June 3, 2012, in the hinterlands of Nice.
The Raid EDHEC is a multisport orientation race contested by mixed teams of four people. Known as one of the toughest raids in France, it includes 250 km with 10,000 meters of positive elevation gain. In addition to classic disciplines such as trail running and mountain biking, every day will feature more original activities: canyoning, biathlon, via ferrata, sea kayaking, and more.
As we progress through the reconnaissance weekends of the route, we can already affirm that once again this year, the beauty of the landscapes will be breathtaking. Indeed, offering our competitors an unforgettable panorama is one of our priorities. The association also aims to maintain its commitment to an ecological approach. In fact, the Raid EDHEC has already been awarded the “Coup de Cœur 2010” prize by the Nicolas Hulot Foundation. Respect for the natural environment is very dear to us. In 2012, an “eco-friendly” trophy will be awarded to the team most respectful of the environment.
This year, the Raid EDHEC takes on a new dimension as it constitutes one of the ten stages of the National GNRMN (Groupement National des Raids Multisports de Nature) Challenge. Indeed, participating in the Raid EDHEC allows competitors to earn points for this challenge, which takes place throughout the year 2012. Additionally, this year the Raid EDHEC is starting a collaboration with Raid in France, which organizes the World Cup of Raid’s final in September, also in the hinterlands of Nice. As a result, we already know that we will have a high level of competition this year, and we hope for the participation of 35 teams.
