Exhibition from February 11 to July 4, 2012
Opening on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 6 PM at Galerie des Ponchettes and at 7 PM at the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art โ Nice
Once again, the City of Nice and the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art honor a Nice-based artist who lives and works in our region. Indeed, Galerie des Ponchettes is hosting an exhibition of recent works by visual artist Henri Olivier, focusing on his reflections on shadow.
A graduate of the National School of Decorative Arts in Nice and later an educational coordinator at the Mediterranean School of Gardens and Landscape in Grasse from 1994 to 2001, Henri Olivier explores the relationships between sculpture, garden, environment, and landscape, as well as our own perception of space. Sculptures, neon lights, photographs, films, occupy the gallery walls as elements in constructing an interior and ideal landscape.
Simultaneously, a work created for the collections of MAMAC will be inaugurated on the third floor of the museum. Entitled “What to do in a place unless one thinks on it,” it occupies a glass walkway opening onto Place Garibaldi and the hills of Nice, providing visual access to the distance beyond the urban landscape.
