The invincibility streak continues for the Niçois! In front of their audience, the team of Cédric Rouleau and Olivier Maemo showed their resilience by recovering to a 3-3 draw after trailing 3-1. During the first match, on the occasion of the 2nd day of the championship, Nice CPC and Auch couldn’t be separated. Things had started very well last night for the Azureans thanks to an easily won first set (3-0) by Marcos Madrid, the Mexican player ranked 79th nationally. Then, the Auch team decided to wake up…

The Eagles do not give up

The Hungarian Peter Musko (n°65) also easily wins the second set (0-3), allowing the Gers club to equalize at one set each. Then it’s a downfall for the Niçois: Loïc Bobillier (n°54) defeats Anthony Peretti (2-3) and Peter Musko, once again, crushes Marcos Madrid (1-3). 3 sets to 1 for Auch. The Niçois must win the last two sets to secure a draw.

The Eagles then show their claws. Recovering well from his loss in the first match, Anthony Peretti (n°108) wins the second one with disconcerting ease (3-0) against Auch’s player-coach, Sébastien Cailleau. In the final set, David Zambori (n°68) holds his nerve and also doesn’t hold back against Loïc Bobillier, winning 3-0. All square at 3 sets each, and a well-deserved draw for the Niçois, marking their fourth consecutive undefeated match.

Quasi-assured retention

The Azureans haven’t lost in the championship since December 6th (1-4 loss to Rouen) and move up one spot in the ranking, to fourth place in the Ligue B championship. Just off the podium, they confirm their impressive 3-3 draw on January 10th in Argentan and their clear victory in Morez (0-4) on January 24th. Having already made great strides towards retention, the objective set by the club at the start of the season, the Niçois will focus on maintaining their invincibility and keeping up the pace.
