The Dรฉlices Company, a university theater troupe from Nice, has throughout the year realized and produced numerous theater projects and short films with the aim of enlivening student life and contributing to the dynamism of the city of Nice.
The Company has around twenty student members, mainly from the faculty of arts and letters. It is based in Nice.
Founded in 2008, the Dรฉlices Company aims to create, produce, and disseminate cultural projects, particularly in the fields of performing arts, visual arts, and intellectual research, and any activity that allows achieving these goals, including training.
“The uniqueness of the company’s operation lies in its artistic choices,” says Anastasia Cassandra Venzal. “We want to offer our audience an exploration of delights. What is a delight? What are its articulations, terrains, and results? What are the different impressions and expressions? What inspires, excites, or hinders delights? We try to answer these questions through experimental and participative artistic research. By assembling projects with multiple facets, we always offer reflection from several angles.”
What can be said in the face of such determination? These are committed young people who deserve support.

At the end of this academic period, before the holidays, the Dรฉlices Company presents one of its latest projects, a unique and original creation of an improvised play combining both Moliรจre’s classical theater and 1930s cabaret acts.
After having encountered considerable success during this theatrical season with Carlo Goldoni’s The Mistress of the Inn, the delightful members of the Company return to the stage this June to present their latest and ambitious project: The Monster in Trope.
Directed by Vincent Lambert. Performed by Anastasia Cassandra Venzal, Cรฉline Fritz-Chevalier, Dorian Mรฉhu, Julie-Amalie Remy, Bรฉnรฉdicte Brun, Sylvain-Emmanuel Jubault, Vincent Lambert, Raphaรซlle Gliksohn, Nicolas Raybaud.
The story of this play takes place in the 1930s and introduces the members of a theater troupe like no other, whose physical characteristics have placed them on the fringes of society. Former artists from Barnum’s circus, considered as sideshow freaks, they have decided to unite. Their new ambitions: to put on an extravagant cabaret, become classic theater actors, and then set out to achieve worldwide recognition!
A collective creation based on improvisation, “The Monster in Trope” is a hybrid show that combines classical theater & improvisation, dance & cinema, circus & cabaret. Through its intrigue and numbers, “The Monster in Trope” attempts to provoke a reflection on otherness. Why is a physical appearance that deviates from the norm displayed, stigmatized & rejected, oscillating between fascination and repulsion? “The Monster in Trope” seeks to reveal with humor & lightness the mechanisms of rejection.
