On Friday, February 17, 2012 at noon, Christian Estrosi, Mayor of Nice, will welcome the Italian and Spanish correspondents of the European COMENIUS project at the Main Town Hall. They will be accompanied by the teachers and students of the Parc Impรฉrial Middle School in Nice who are participating in this multilateral exchange.
The 23 students (10 Spaniards and 13 Italians) come from the Istituto tecnico commerciale Don Luigi Sturzo in Bagheria, Italy, and the Instituto de Enseรฑanza Secundaria Josรฉ Marhuenda Prats in Pinoso, Spain. Hosted by families from Nice for a week, they will discover our city, its history, its heritage, and of course, the Carnival. They will stay in Nice until February 23.
The aim of COMENIUS is primarily cultural, it is intended to promote exchanges within Europe, allowing younger generations to build a common heritage through meetings, and to create a European consciousness.
Thus, these exchanges titled “Bridges of Love and Bridges of Friendship in the Cultural Rainbow of Europe,” encourage students to explore the specificities of their countries and regions to compare them with those of partner countries and encourage them to perceive a united Europe in its diversity. This year’s favored themes are ecology and immigration, which will lead to projects carried out by the students.
