60 bottles of 50 cl of olive oil, from the harvest by the ARBRE association in the Arènes de Cimiez park in October 2010, will be handed over to the Accompagnement, Lieux d’accueil, Carrefour éducatif et social (ALC) association, which notably manages the maternal center of Mont Boron.
Approved during the municipal council of October 23, 2009, the harvesting of olives from the municipal parks of Nice was entrusted to the ARBRE association for a duration of three years.
Ø One-third of the obtained harvest goes to the city of Nice, which offers it to a charity of its choice, while two-thirds go to the ARBRE association, which uses it for school activities and for its members.
The ARBRE association was founded in 1991.
Its mission is to develop knowledge and respect for the environment and nature and to promote the integration of children and adults into their social, urban, and natural environment. With this operation, the ARBRE association aims to develop and diversify actions carried out within the framework of “integration projects” and specifically to orient these activities towards the promotion of the local arboreal heritage, particularly the olive tree, in order to maintain the biodiversity of the Mediterranean area.
The Maternal Center managed by the ALC association is tasked with accommodating and supporting pregnant women or those accompanied by children under 3 years old, who are isolated, often homeless, and who experience, at a particular time in their lives, loneliness and the fear of not being able to protect their child and themselves.
