Musical images inspired by the color and sound of a living Matisse.

This musical project was born from the desire of Marie-Thรฉrรจse Pulvรฉnis and her teams, and a year of exchanges with the So What Company on the relationships between painting and music.

Musical images inspired by the color and sound of a living Matisse. A marriage between the eye and the ear, in this unique place that is the forecourt of the Matisse Museum of Cimiez.

Compositions specially written for this project, from duo to sextet, with the presentation of the group’s latest CD: “Muses et Modรจles: no dogme,” a shared desire to come together around the same language, that of today’s Jazzโ€”alive, free, festive, creative.

An exhilarating Jazz, a Jazz of listening and respect, a desire to practice written and improvised music of the 21st century (from the middle region of Nice). Result: written melodies and joyful improvisations, a mix of jazz fusion, percussive world music, swing, texts, a Jazz imagined for the audience and the stage.

With the musicians of the Compagnie: Alex BENVENUTO (Bass Clarinet); Laurent LAPCHIN (Guitar, trumpet); Jean-Marc LAUGIER (Double bass); Cรฉdric FIORETTI (Drums).
And as guests, Julie DURAND (vocalist singer), Thomas GUILLEMAUD (Soprano Sax), Josรฉ SERAFINO (guitar); Henri ROGER (Piano, guitar), and Michel SEYRAT (voice).

The So What Company participated in the 2004 Hyรจres Festival with Michel Portal and the Belmondo brothers.

Opening act for SUD in 2005. Off festivals of Porquerolles and Antibes Juan les Pins in 2006.

Presentation at the Spring Arts Festival of Monaco in 2007. In 2008, “Jazz” at the Matisse Museum. In 2009, closing of the Pass’ร  Caille Festival, improvised music at the Museum of Fine Arts in Nice. Tourrettes Festival (Var), Matisse Rodin exhibition.

In 2010, Spring of Poets, improvised music with Barre Phillips and Eric Maria Couturier at the MJC Picaud, Nice Jazz Festival Off. In 2011, opening of the Spring Arts of Monte Carlo and concerts in Denmark. Festival of Collioure and Ramatuelle, 60 years of the Matisse Chapel in Vence.

The So What Company manages a Jazz club in La Gaude and organizes the Jazz Meetings and the Jazz Trophies of the French Riviera.
