Context of the work:
In 1733, Pergolesi composed La Serva Padrona to enliven the intermissions of his opera “Il Prigionero Superbo.”
He had no idea that these two intermezzi in the Neapolitan style would herald the era of Opera Buffa, and twenty years later, would throw the Parisian intelligentsia into the full-blown “Querelle des Bouffons,” which pitted the defenders of French music against those who wanted to Italianize opera.
This short and light work was notable for its modernity at the time.
-The ARSIS association was founded on August 19, 1999, on the initiative of professional and amateur artists, educators, and professionals from the social sector.
Its goal is to create favorable conditions for the meetings of music amateurs and professionals, to explore different possibilities for cultural action, and to develop a dynamic of exchanges centered around music, notably singing.
