6 Nations Rugby: A France Without Imagination

Latest News

The French team has just seen its Grand Slam dreams vanish by conceding a draw (17 to 17) against Ireland.

rugby_france-2.jpg The French once again missed their match start, enduring repeated assaults from their opponents, settling for solid defense and strict discipline. While this strategy was enough to defeat Scotland, it proved insufficient against Ireland.

During the first half, our recurring issues with offensive playmaking favored the Irish’s plans, allowing them to take the lead on two French initiatives, with our attack line unable to complete three passes with good timing and, above all, to adapt to the Irish’s reverse defense.

Fortunately, rugby starts up front, because if our pack hadn’t taken charge in the second half, we never would’ve been able to secure this draw. Our scrum, our play in the axis, and a few driving mauls got us back afloat.

Once again, we note the mental strength of this group but regret that they are more often reactive than proactive.
