It is the 40th anniversary of the death of the famous Spanish painter.
This exhibition will be loaned by the Musée d’Art Classique de Mougins (MACM) and will feature 8 works by the great master, as well as photographs of Picasso in his private life in Mougins, taken by his talented friend Lucien Clergue.
On its side, the MACM has just been awarded a Ken d’Or, recognizing the best museum in Europe. It achieved this honor on par with the Louvre!! And in May, we will find out if the MACM will receive the European Museum of the Year Award (EMYA), as it is nominated among 28 other museums across Europe.
For the record, the MACM houses 800 rare pieces spread over 4 floors. A mix of Egyptian, Greek, and Roman antiquities with neo-classical, modern, and contemporary art inspired by these periods (Matisse, Picasso, Chagall, Cézanne, Warhol, Quinn, etc.). And above all, the largest collection of Greco-Roman helmets and armor in the world!!
Finally, there will undoubtedly be numerous tributes to Picasso this year. It was in Mougins that this great artist spent the last 12 years of his life, eventually passing away there.
