The Faculty of Sports Sciences (STAPS) at the University Nice Sophia Antipolis is organizing the National Day of Sport and Disability on Thursday, April 4, from 11 am to 6 pm, on the campus of the Faculty of Sports Sciences. “Having fun and learning to respect others” is the slogan of this introductory day.
The National Day of Sport and Disability allows people with disabilities to have fun but, more importantly, to experience a unique day ensuring their autonomy and integration. Able-bodied participants, on the other hand, will become aware of the difficulties of living with a disability and develop a new altruistic perspective.
This awareness day will welcome both able-bodied and disabled participants to spend a fun and sporty day. It will take place in an environment of tolerance and respect towards all individuals suffering from any type of disability.
Throughout the day, they will participate in an orientation race marked by various adapted sports challenges such as wheelchair basketball games, boccia, or even an introduction to Zumba.
Participants will complete the challenges alone or with the help of a supervisor, depending on the activities and the nature of their disability. The supervision and animation will be provided by students from the Faculty of Sports Sciences and by professionals in sports and disability.
