Around the Argentine defender Renato Civelli and the Peruvian goalkeeper Raul Fernandez, the fans of OGC Nice discovered their club’s new jerseys for the 2011-2012 season at the official store of the Azur club. In a concert-like atmosphere.

It was best not to arrive late at OGC Nice’s official store this Wednesday afternoon! Not even the heat could deter the fans of the Eagles. And for a good reason: Argentine center-back Renato Civelli and Peruvian goalkeeper Raul Fernandez were expected to present the new sets of jerseys for the 2011-2012 season.

A somewhat peculiar fan shouts: “Where are they? I absolutely want to see them both. I want them to sign six photos for my family and me”. Enthusiastic but disruptive, when one realizes that this well-built sexagenarian was a quarter-hour early!

The tradition respected

Finally, Civelli and Fernandez arrived shortly after 5 PM. The crowd applauds them as soon as they pass the threshold of the shop’s entrance. Excited, the Reds and Blacks go with the flow. Whether they are 20 or 60 years old. Whether they are men or women.

However, the jerseys stamped Burrda Sport steal the show. The “Home” edition (mainly for home games) – sold for 55 euros – respects the traditional colors of the club, through vertical red and black stripes.

The only small mark of originality this season: a wave appears on the jersey at the level of the right pectoral and undulates up to the left armpit. The top of the jersey is black.

The “Away” version (for away matches) is entirely white, adorned with two horizontal red and black bars and a wave, similar to the “Home” jersey.

The supporters enthusiastic, and the players too

The beauty of the jerseys delights the supporters. The most enthusiastic express “Bravo!” and applaud.

Grégory, an employee of the Urban Community of Nice Côte d’Azur, has succumbed to the passion: “I am 100% a supporter of the Gym. Every year, I buy the jerseys”.

The 27-year-old young man also shares his enthusiasm for the new season: “We can easily aim for a place in the top 10. We have the means to do better than 17th”.

While Raul Fernandez and Renato Civelli engage in an endless autograph signing session, a fan wonders: “Isn’t there a third jersey?” The latter seems to forget that Nice is not competing in the European Cup. At least not this season.
