A new week is about to begin for the Summer Evenings.
The General Council of Alpes-Maritimes renewed this major cultural event of the season in 2011, by scheduling 450 free performances from June 11 to September 25, 2011, organized in 155 municipalities.
Classical, traditional, or contemporary music, jazz, singing, dance, theater, or even music hall, all tastes will be delighted with the programming of this 16th edition, which highlights the artists and creators of our department.
– Not to be missed this week:
David Reinhardt Trio, August 9 in Saint-Jeannet, August 10 in Saorge, and August 13 in Aspremont, at 9 PM.
David Reinhardt, grandson of Django Reinhardt, presents this original trio with Yoann Serra on drums and Florenc Gac on the Hammond organ. The David Reinhardt Trio exudes a communicative energy and evident virtuosity, creating at each concert an atmosphere conducive to a musical and human encounter with the three artists. A great joy of living that inevitably carries the audience into a delightfully intoxicating musical movement.
Mellow Swing, August 11 in La Gaude, at 9 PM.
Listening to them, you can easily imagine yourself in a saloon in the French Quarter of New Orleans, or even one of those “charming” houses where swing was born. Mellow Swing is an original and talented jazz ensemble, atypical in the Cรดte d’Azur context. Indeed, this group, far from overused standards, gives pride of place to freshness and swing jazz as it could be heard in the cabarets and jazz clubs from the 1920s to the 1950s. Mellow Swing endeavors to revive a repertoire of artists with jazz, blues, and popular sonorities, like Rose Murphy, Little Esther, Billie Holiday, or Nat King Cole so wonderfully did.
Yolande Nectoux, August 13 in Cuebris, August 14 in Grรฉoliรจres, August 15 in Sallagriffon, August 16 in Rimplas, at 9 PM.
Popular and Provenรงal, Fanette the outspoken fishmonger, exactly how the elders knew her at the Provenรงal markets, takes us on a 1 hour and 15 minute journey with humor that is both tender and biting. Funny and colorful, but as sharp as a sting, she unpacks her life and her fish with a flurry of wordplay, mimics, and comical situations.
The Running Birds, August 15 in Colomars, at 9 PM.
Formed for 10 years, the Running Birds have developed a unique style of their own, inspired by the rock of the 70s, particularly legendary bands such as Deep Purple, Led Zeppelin, among others… Their fascinating charisma, creativity, and originality make each of their concerts a timeless journey anchored in the collective memory of a very rich musical generation.
Please note a change in schedule!
The duo Elizabeth Vidal and Andrรฉ Cognet will take place on August 12 instead of August 18 in Breil-sur-Roya, at 9 PM.
