The Nice CPC, significantly diminished, never really managed to trouble Saint-Louis last night in the Haut-Rhin, during the 14th day of the Pro B. Expeditious, the Alsatians won 4-0 in front of their home crowd, thereby taking a serious step towards securing the 3rd place in the championship standings.
After a very busy month of international competition, including the Olympic qualifying tournament, the Latin American championships, and the world team championships, Mexican Marcos Madrid delivered two very tight matches but had to concede defeat to Belgian Benjamin Rogiers and Croatian Ivan Juzbasic.
Suffering from acute bronchitis, Hungarian David Zombori insisted on not forfeiting but could not do anything against the same Juzbasic. Meanwhile, Anthony Géminiani, returning from a training camp in Algeria where he was notably coaching the young Niçois Sannah Lagsir, who represents that country, fought well but could not find a breakthrough against the British player Alexander Perry.
This sixth defeat of the season, without serious consequences on the standings, keeps Olivier Maero and Cédric Rouleau’s men at the 6th place in the championship.
In the next round, they will host Villeneuve-sur-Lot, a team currently undergoing a recovery, which shares this 6th place with them. The match promises to be particularly uncertain and spectacular.
