Stroll in Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes, in the footsteps of writers

This original collective work, blending literature and tourism, was directed by Alex Benvenuto, author of several books on the region. Raoul Mille wrote the preface.

In this Stroll, great authors vividly recount the daily lives of writers from Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes, giving us both the social life and history of the region. Aren’t the literary figures who lived, loved, and wrote here the most insightful witnesses?

A land of attraction since the 18th century, Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes have always charmed, and often retained, visitors from France and beyond; and the journey to the Riviera became, after 1815, an important societal ritual. But people also come to Nice to cure their melancholy or health issues.

Maeterlinck, Gary, Cocteau, Nucera, Le Clézio, and more than thirty other writers have established their legend here: the Alpes-Maritimes become a literary myth. The Riviera ignites the imagination of the greatest novelists!

Great biographers, passionate about these writers and writers themselves, tell us about the intimate lives and histories of these authors on the French Riviera, so dear to Stephen Liégeard. Among others, Jean-Claude Lamy, Marie-Louise Audiberti, Paul Gellings, Laurence Campa, Suzanne Cervera, Marie-Thérèse Pulvénis de Séligny, Hélène Metlov, Nicole Vaillant, Jean-Marc Giaume, Sylvie Lecat, Véronique Thuin-Chaudron, Laurence Genevet, Martine Arrigo Schwartz, Carine Maret, Isabelle Gruca, Fioretti Cédric, Jean-Marc Laugier, José Cucurullo, Gilles Montelatici… These are thirty-one passionate storyteller-biographers who bring the great writers back to life in their intimacy.

This panorama of writers is abundantly illustrated with photos from family albums or archives.

This book, which comprises 304 pages, around a hundred illustrations and a beautiful color cover, allows one to discover Nice and the Alpes-Maritimes in an original way, providing a view full of fantasy and surprises.
