The Alpes-Maritimes now have 55,415 unemployed people (figures from December 2011 from Pôle Emploi). This is a very sad record, which makes sense when we know that the number of job seekers has increased by 35% in 5 years in the department, amounting to 15,000 people.
What is Christian Estrosi’s response – doubly concerned as both the mayor of Nice and president of the Métropole, and even triply as the former Minister Delegate for Industry – to this very troubling situation? Provocation! “If unemployment is rising, it’s because we are creating jobs. Our area has very high-level jobs, and these employees come with their spouses, who sometimes become job seekers,” he said today in Métro.
According to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, this phenomenon concerns only around 500 people…
It is high time to end with this contemptuous mayor of the people and their suffering. It’s time to be done with this pale imitation of the bling-bling president, with the one who travels by helicopter or armored car and considers the Fouquet’s as a popular brasserie (and only dines at La Petite Maison, even having a small pedestrian zone set up around the establishment for himself!).
The presidential and legislative elections will be a warning for Christian Estrosi. The municipal elections will finally return Nice to the people of Nice, to address their problems and notably make reducing unemployment in our city a priority.
