On Saturday morning, a rehearsal of the Tour de France in the form of a hike took place. An event open to everyone, retracing the time trial route that will occur in Nice. Participation was free, allowing participants and passersby to enjoy stands dedicated to the glory of the Tour de France.
A hike that unfolded in a family-friendly and convivial atmosphere. For the occasion, several blue bikes were made available to the public. With a surprise for the first lucky registrants: Jerseys, helmet covers, and water bottles bearing the Tour de France logo were offered to them.
Ahead of the Tour stage taking place on Tuesday, July 2nd in Nice, the city is organizing numerous activities and festivities from Saturday, June 29th to Tuesday, July 2nd. In the village located on the Quai des Etats-Unis, various events will be arranged: broadcasting of the first four stages of the Tour de France, trial mountain biking champion shows, quizzes, contests, BMX initiation…
There were 250 participants in total at the start of this amateur stage. The times are far from those of the professionals, that’s evident. But the heart and enthusiasm were present. A way to prepare for the arrival of Contador, Voeckler, Froome, and company in the best possible way in Nice.
