festival_cloitre.jpg From July 16 to August 14, the Cloister Festival offers a series of exceptional events, both in terms of the quality and diversity of the programming and the venues hosting them โ€” mostly outdoors.

The Cloister Festival schedules a wide range of musical events: concerts, public master classes, recitals, the 1st Jacques Taddei international competition… during which internationally renowned soloists, young talents accompanied by the Philharmonic Orchestra of Nice, the Regional Orchestra of Cannes, the Grand Orchestra of Young People of the Mediterranean, and the Soloists of Zagreb will take turns.

Surprises, emotions, and discoveries will be present during these musical moments with the great pieces of the classical repertoire performed by the most talented interpreters, the tradition of the Japanese shakuhachi flute, tributes to deceased composers and those who bring music to life today: Bruno Coulais and Laurent Petitgirard. In this year of Francophonie in Nice, Daniel Mesguich will resonate the words of Camus on the projections of the magnificent boards by the Nice illustrator Jacques Ferrandez from Gallimard editions and baroque music served by its most demanding interpreter: Jordi Savallโ€ฆ

The Cloister Festival will invest in the gardens and Cloister of the Cimiez Monastery (16th century) still occupied by Franciscan friars and exceptionally open to the public for this festival, the Joseph Kosma Auditorium of the Nice Conservatory, and classified sites of the Nice hinterland.
