This year, under the impetus of Jean-Marc GIAUME, Municipal Councilor delegated to Historical Heritage, Archeology, Niรงoise Language, and Culture, alongside Christian ESTROSI, Deputy Mayor of Nice, the Heritage Center โ€“ through the Small Heritage School at the Chรขteau school, organized a Niรงoise language initiation workshop in three schools in the city during this last term and during the midday break (the lunch break).

Free “Heritage” classes are open to all 162 schools in the City of Nice, free to participate in this cultural adventure in three different approaches: “voluntary” project, “class” project, and “school” project.
Thus, nearly a hundred students from Bischoffsheim, Regina Coeli, and Chรขteau schools freely participated in these workshops and became familiar with the Niรงoise language: The mediation team from the City’s Heritage Center worked throughout the school year to transmit the Niรงoise heritage and its popular culture to the students through several thematic workshops: urban visits to the city’s “historic” sites to better understand and appreciate its heritage, living history workshops, games, songs… A true success according to Emmanuel BOTTAGISI, cultural mediator: “We can see that the children are eager to discover, especially since what we’re offering them is a history lesson in the street!

On this occasion, under the direction of the Director of the Small Heritage School, Mr. STROBINO, and Emmanuel BOTTAGISI, the 30 voluntary students from the Chรขteau school (ranging from CP to CM2 classes) presented their little show to Lauriano AZINHEIRINHA, Deputy for Education and Youth alongside Christian ESTROSI, by singing the most famous “Nissart nursery rhymes”.

For Emmanuel BOTTAGISI, the choice of song and nursery rhymes was not random: “We are not language teachers, it’s important to specify that. Our goal is to introduce children to Nissart naturally, without forcing them, and singing is a good way to entertain them and spark their interest. Thanks to the rhythm and refrains, children learn Nissart better.
