The Masters of Pétanque began yesterday with a tournament themed around peace and sport. For the occasion, celebrities, participants of the Final Four, Monegasque personalities, as well as His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, were present.
Spectators enjoyed a good day attending the Peace and Sport Pro/Am. This tournament, bringing together professionals present for the Final Four of the Masters of Pétanque and amateurs like Miss Prestige Auline Grac, Sébastien Loeb’s co-driver Daniel Elena, and His Serene Highness Prince Albert II of Monaco, had both entertaining and humanitarian goals. Visitors could donate their pétanque balls to benefit underprivileged youth through Joël Bouzou’s association, Peace and Sport*.
Despite everything, the competition was intense. In the end, it was the team of Prince Albert, Daniel Elena, 9 times WRC world champion, and Dylan Rocher, once World Champion of Pétanque, that won.
A Jack from the Sky
Beyond the matches, there were numerous activities. The cheerleaders (pom pom girls) from Monaco showcased their various choreographies to the public. A clown juggler and fire-breather continuously tried to capture attention, and the crowd witnessed an unexpected finale. Indeed, with the participation of the Monaco Parachute Team, Sébastien Carbillet descended from the sky by parachute to deliver the jack for the final.
Spectacle. Good humor. This summarizes the flow of yesterday’s events, paving the way for the actual competition today.
