Christian Estrosi, Member of Parliament, Mayor of Nice, President of the Nice Côte d’Azur Metropolis, Eric Ciotti, Member of Parliament, President of the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, and Colonel Jean-Paul Mochin, Departmental Military Delegate and Commander of Air Base 943, invite you to attend the Ceremony of Tribute to the Airmen of Air Base 943, on Monday, July 2 at 5:30 PM at Villa Masséna, in Nice.

This ceremony pays tribute to the work accomplished at this Air Base 943, named “Base Capitaine-Auber,” which is going to be dissolved.

This airbase operated as a detection and control center: its mission was the surveillance of air movements in the Southeast of France. It was spread over two sites: one at the summit of Mont-Agel, near Nice, and the other at Gardanne, in the municipality of Roquebrune-Cap-Martin.

The Gardanne site will be closed while the Mont-Agel site will become an “air element” attached to the Istres Air Base 125.

This reform is implemented as part of the modernization of military tools and the implementation of the General Review of Public Policy.
