The new exhibition path “Over Hill and Dale: Biodiversity of the Alpes-Maritimes” at the Museum of Natural History

Latest News

This journey is presented as a naturalist walk through the hinterland and coastline of Nice to discover the “hidden treasures” of the biodiversity in our region, renowned worldwide for its landscapes. With its remarkable natural history and diverse and unique species, this area, a true biodiversity hotspot, is rich but threatened in many ways.

From the luminous cliffs of the Riviera to the dark valleys of Nice, this exhibition highlights the importance and challenges of conserving this unique natural heritage that makes this department one of the richest in France.

In this new space, specimens of mammals characteristic of the region (wolves, deer, wild boars, badgers, chamois, etc.) will be presented, along with numerous birds, insects, mollusks, fish, plants, and fungi, in order to concretely showcase its diversity from the perspective of natural wealth as well as the threats it faces.

This new exhibition path also sheds light on the often little-known missions and activities that the Nice Museum undertakes for scientific research and the conservation of this natural heritage.
