This Saturday, September 21 and Sunday, September 22, the 30th edition of the Fife and Drum Festival in Vésubie will take place, organized by the “Lou Mourtaïret” association.
To celebrate the 30 years of the Fife and Drum Festival, the “Lou Mourtaïret” association, supported by the General Council of Alpes-Maritimes, is keen to bring back to the Vésubie valley, for one weekend, all the history, conviviality, and emotion that this traditional event conveys.
300 musicians from around the world, including 260 from France and Europe (Italy, Switzerland, Belgium), will gather on September 21 and 22 in the communes of Lantosque, Belvédère, Saint Martin Vésubie, and Roquebillière.
This musical weekend will also be an opportunity to pay tribute to Ely Roubaudi, founder of the “Lou Mourtaïret” association, who created the first fife festival in 1983.
At that time, it brought together about thirty musicians in the village of Lantosque.
He was one of the key figures in the revival of the fife and drum musical tradition in the Vésubie valley.
