with young directors who are achieving great success at various
festivals: Valeria Golino (Miele), Antonio Piazza and Fabio Grassadonia (Salvo

and will complete this program. This film will also be screened as part of the
Blue Week in partnership with the CCAS of Carros. To celebrate
the hundredth anniversary of Verdi’s birth, Cinéalma will screen his famous
Opera La Traviata.
Having dazzled Cinéalma’s audience with her presence in 2009, Fanny
Ardant returns to Carros. She honors us by presenting in a premiere her second film, Cadences obstinées.
The pre-opening show presented by the J. Prévert forum will allow us
to welcome Agnès Jaoui in concert. The famous director and actress will showcase a new side of her talent by performing songs from
her latest show Siempre al sul. We will also have the opportunity to
screen her latest film Au bout du conte.
The best Moroccan, Tunisian, and Algerian directors will present the films
that have won awards at numerous festivals this year: Nour-Eddine
Lakhmari (Zéro), Abdeslam Kelai (Malak), Mohamed El Aboudi (Women Outlaws), Nouri Bouzid (Millefeuilles), Mahmoud Ben Mahmoud (The Professor), Rachid
Benhadj (The Scent of Algiers).
This year, Israeli and Palestinian cinema will be well represented with
compelling films that will not leave viewers indifferent: Rock The Casbah by Yariv
Horowitz, Youth by Tom Shoval, Omar by Hany Abu-Assad, Inch’Allah by Anais
Barbeau.
Spanish cinema will be represented with its two best films of the year
Grupo 7, never before shown in France, and Blancanieves. Awaiting confirmation is the
presence of director Pablo Berger. La Jaula de Oro by Spanish director Diego Quemada-Diez will immerse us in the journey of three young adolescents leaving Guatemala for California. A grand film highly noticed at Un Certain Regard in Cannes.
Also present is Iran, with A Cube of Sugar, never before shown
in France, with subtitles especially done for Cinéalma.
The young audience will get to discover The King and the Bird, one of the classics in animated films being re-released in theaters with a restored copy.
This year, Cinéalma will support the Nomade association which helps
leprosy-afflicted children in India. On this occasion, the closing will feature a premiere of the Indian film The Lunchbox, which captivated the Cannes audience.
Cinéalma is very committed to exchange and conviviality, with two meals, one organized by Cinéactions and the second by the Muslim Cultural Association,
offering the public the chance to meet the present directors
over a paella and a couscous, with a participation of 8 €.
Cinéalma is co-organized by the city of Carros and the Cinéactions
association, with the support of the PACA region, the general council of Alpes-Maritimes, ACSE, Malongo, Hôtel Beau Rivage, Rica Lewis, Crédit Agricole, Maif, Fiat,
Nooris, as well as many other partners.
The strengthening of exchanges with the festivals of Rome, Carthage, Tangier,
