This Thursday, November 21, a great opportunity arises for the people of Nice who are interested in European integration. A conference-debate will be led by Nicole FONTAINE* and Klaus HรNSCH, featuring an enticing title: THE FUTURE OF EUROPE.
On January 22, 1963, by signing the รlysรฉe Treaty, De Gaulle and Adenauer cemented Franco-German cooperation, which had begun in the early 1950s, as a driving momentum that aimed to unite the two states and leave their mark on the European construction.
Fifty years later, what can be said about the results of this cooperation?
The discussion will highlight the assessment of the relationship between the two states and also the future challenges within Europe. Is a catalog of measures sufficient to rejuvenate it, or will a new founding act be necessary, like the Schuman Declaration or the รlysรฉe Treaty?
