New SNCF route? Real project or false reality?

With the aim of improving services, the SNCF, the State, the Region, the Department, and the municipalities plan to create a new SNCF line between Nice and the Siagne. Stay tunedโ€ฆ

train-21.jpg The latter would start from the future Nice Airport multimodal station, pass north of Saint Laurent du Var, Biot to head towards Sophia and its tertiary industries, joining south of Mouans Sartoux the Grasse Cannes line, thus creating a loop.

This project would increase the frequency of TER. Sophia would be the main beneficiary of this new line, as Nice and Cannes are directly connected to the companies and industries of Sophia.

Two new stations would be built, Nice Airport with connections to the tram and a bus station, and Sophia les Brรฉguiรจres, with possible connections to the public transport network. Nice would then be 23 minutes from Sophia and Cannes fifteen minutes away. The regulars of the buses should appreciate this time saving.

The line will be 80% in a tunnel, thus not impacting the landscape and causing neither nuisances nor disfigurement of the urbanized landscape of this area. The goal of the SNCF is to increase the use of the rail network by meeting public expectations.

There would therefore be more TER, between 6 and 9 per hour on the most frequented sections. It is an ambitious project; let’s hope it becomes a reality in the near future.
