The facts: Several residents of the Saint Roch neighborhood have recently received numerous batches of increased electronic fines for obstructive parking, issued by the National Police. They had not received the initial notices.
Christian Estrosi, Deputy Mayor of Nice, was informed and reacted: โThis morning I spoke with Mr. Marcel Authier, Departmental Director of Public Safety. I thank him for committing to fully investigate this matter.โ
In the meantime, to determine if this complaint is true or not, to what extent, and where the faults and reasons lie, one could have imagined a period of vigilant waiting by the parties currently involved and nothing more.
But, none of that. The Mayor of Nice aims to be attentive and considerate towards his citizens: โEngaged and dedicated to the people of Nice, I was able to tell those who were excessively fined that my services are at their disposal to help them face the financial difficulties they encounter as the Christmas holidays approach. I also instructed my Municipal Police that electronic fines should not be used by the community, because I prefer that potential offenders continue to be immediately informed when they are fined.โ
Will the sanction depend on who you are?
The Mayor of Nice is known to be strict regarding the civic behavior of the people of Nice, and we hope the election period does not lead to an overly flexible interpretation of the rules.
Even if the cunning ones voteโฆ.
